So you love P.E and health ? but you hate math And science? Well if you think about it every time you dribble a ball you are using science and when you shoot the ball you have to use math for the correct angle. When you run a mile in P.E you have to make sure it’s a full mile by using math to calculate the area. So actually you love math and science as well as P.E!

basketballThe objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter and 10 feet (3.048 m) with arch to a backboard at each end. To measure the rim I had to use circumference (A= πr2). The basketball itself is 8.5 to 9.5 inches. So the creator James Naismith had to use math to measure that exactly correct.

basketballTo make the basketball go in the basket you have to use you angle your arm 95 degrees so the ball will have the perfect touch, you will need to calculate to make sure its not to more or less than 95 degrees or the shot will be off. You also use science, for the ball to be able to dribble you has to find the mass and the volume.

basketballYour probably thinking that’s math too but it’s a science factor. The mass will you know how much air to put in the ball. If you don’t put enough it will be flat if you put too much it will blow up.
